PARAGUAYAN HARP : MODERN & TRADITIONAL
STYLES – Elementary + Intermediate – E+M

TUTOR : MARTIN PORTILLO
Discover the versatility of the Paraguayan harp by exploring traditional and modern styles. The course will include the basic rhythms and techniques unique to the Paraguayan harp and demonstrations of the metal ring-key for the incidental notes. Learn to use the strings to their full potential with arpeggios, trinos, glissandos, picaditas and other combinations. The emphasis will be on fun and creativity. The classes will be taught by ear, and some music will be available at the end of the course.

This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time learning the basics of clarsach playing along with other keen adults. You will be amazed at your progress. Marie-Louise has a special empathy with the mature student having been one herself – years ago! Come along and have fun. Music reading isn't necessary but music will be given out at the end of each session.

For those who have just a little experience of playing – maybe you are self-taught and would like to pick up some useful tips, or perhaps you just feel that your technique would benefit from some extra focus. Through tunes as well as exercises, we will explore topics such as tone production, fingering and placing and articulation/relaxation. It will also be possible to discuss any particular problems or requests you have as an individual.
