Killarney Harps was established by Tim O’Carroll in 2011 in the picturesque Lakeland town of Killarney, in the heart of the Kingdom of Kerry. Kerry’s cultural history is steeped in Irish traditional music and dance.

A not-for-profit Community Interest Company established by Mark Norris Harps to make it easier and more affordable for new players to take up the harp. An innovative birch plywood construction, with elegantly simple design, makes the Nifty an inexpensive starter harp that ‘feels’ right to play. Ideal string tension, spacing, and stable tuning makes learning inspirational, rewarding and encourages good playing technique. Flexibility is key to the affordable concept. The pre-drilled frame allows simple home installation of Camac semitone lever kits. During the Festival there will be an exhibition of harps made in the UK and overseas. This offers an opportunity to try instruments made by different makers and perhaps even to purchase or rent a harp. In addition there will be music, CDs and harp-related goodies on sale.
