Neil Wood

Neil is a Glasgow based harper who performs and teaches on both gut and wire-strung harps. He is currently undertaking a PhD at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland exploring the development of Scottish harp technique and the use of fingernails within contemporary Scottish traditional harp playing. Neil looks to emulate the sounds and textures of other traditional instruments through exploring ornamentation and the timbre of the harp. He is the founding director of The Folks’ Music Project CIC – a Social Enterprise which facilitates accessible community based traditional music activities and tuition around Glasgow.
